A huge number of materials and technology are used in the manufacture of matresses now and some of them are unique in their properties. For example, a material invented in the U.S. under the title “eliosoft”, made based on vulcanized water polyurethane and several kinds of polyester, has the property to adsorb moisture, react to the temperature (become softer or harder), take the form of the human body. Later there were created materials with similar properties: memoform and vaterlateks. Matresses with these fillers have a high elasticity, can withstand a lot of weight, maintain the original form of the product.

Despite the fact that many synthetic materials are safe for humans in terms of environmental requirements, many consumers prefer to buy matresses only with natural ingredients. Manufacturers meet the requirements of customers in full and use an increasingly diverse range of natural materials in their technologies. For example, such an unusual material, like banana fiber is often used in the manufacture of matresses. It is an elastic filler obtained by grinding and drying of the skin of the fruit, leaves of palm trees. It has antistatic properties, elasticity, water absorbency. Fiber silver thread is one of the newest materials, which has antibacterial and antifungal properties.

The following natural fillers, alone or in combination with synthetic materials are used: palm and coconut fiber, goat and sheep wool, seaweed, flax fiber, silk, velours, and even river sand. It should be noted that the matresses with natural fillings are run for the life of 6-10 years, after which it is recommended to replace product.
