When choosing a spring matress you can be faced with a problem, what exactly to buy. At the heart of a spring matress of any design is, of course, spring system. It may be dependent or independent.

The essence of the dependent spring matresses is that all the sections, which comprise the basis of the matress, interconnected rigid metal frame, giving added strength and rigidity. This leads to the fact that such matresses bottoming entirely, even if the pressure only on one section. And the main disadvantage of such a matress structure is that they have too much sag, not giving the necessary support for the back or waist. Thus, sleep in bed with a dependent spring matress may be restless, and in the morning backache.

Independent spring matresses are considered to be modern , in which the springs are not interconnected.  Each spring is placed in a separate special case, which is sutured. After that, all cases are in the correct sequence and stapled together with a special tape, which allows them to not fall apart, but at the same time, does not restrict the movement of the spring. The main plus of such matresses is that when pressing on a certain area, “related” would be only a few neighboring springs, while the rest of the matress is not exposed to any impact. In practice, this means that, lying on the independent spring matress, the spine will be in an upright position, as the spring selling only in the protruding parts of the body: head, shoulders, pelvis. In addition, these matresses do not have “legs” and “head”, as, for example, matresses, with the effect of memory, so you can easily change their direction. The backbone will be maintained throughout the night, no matter how much you are tossing and turning and spinning, so the matress with independent springs fully deserves the title “orthopedic”. Differences in design may be, for example, in number of springs on the most apt. meter, and in materials from which they are made.

Most of high-quality springs matresses are made from a steel wire. The maximum weight that the matress can withstand depends on wire’s thickness. The strength of the matress and its orthopedic properties depends on the number of springs. So, for example, normal household models have 220-250 springs, while for therapeutic matresses can be used up to 1000 pieces per square meter.
